The Indoor Maze to the Egg Hunt was Saturday April 8, at the NH Sportsplex in Bedford New Hampshire. The egg hunt events began in 2009 as the first fundraiser for Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation. This charity was established when Bedford parents Heather and Chris Dainiak’s son Nicholas was diagnosed with a rare fatal generative brain condition called Batten disease.
Families hopped along the bunny footprints path through the NH Sportsplex to the egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny. The hunt included 15,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes. Sponsors had tables along the bunny path, across two indoor soccer fields. Families stopped at each sponsorship table to collect an egg and special treats. Along the maze journey, families listened to music, played kids’ games, and took photos with many cute mascots. There were 75 Easter raffle baskets, a scrumptious bake sale just in time for the holiday weekend, and bunny crafts for kids. Entertainment was from The Party Palace princess and pirates, DJ McHoopsta, Granite State Clowns, Fungo the NH Fisher Cat as well as Troy Wunderlee from Big Top Adventures walking on stilts!
OPTN thanks its many sponsors, including this year’s title sponsor Eastern Bank, venue sponsor NH Sportsplex, Executive Health and Sports Center, Granite State Gastrointestinal Consultants, Catholic Medical Center, Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center, BASC Imaging, Derry Medical Center of Bedford, Derry Imaging, Rothwangl Dental Care, Longchamps Electric, London Family Orthodontics and Spectrum Marketing.
The egg hunt was supported by corporate sponsorships, local businesses, and many community volunteers. This year had 1200 guests. OPTN’s goal for 2023 is to continue to raise funds to support expert nursing care for children suffering from Batten Disease, support children and families with this disease, and fund continued research efforts to cure this rare disease.
